Steamtown National Historic Site
"Trains in Their Natural Habitat"
The Steamtown National Historic Site displays historic railroad steam engines and passenger cars and offers excursions on vintage trains through the mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania. Set on 40 acres of the Scranton railroad yard, the park incorporates the remaining original elements of the Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western Railroad's roundhouse and locomotive repair shops, as well as a visitor center, theater, exhibit buildings, and an excursion depot. Rhodeside & Harwell directed master planning and design for the entire site and created a natural resource protection plan for the adjacent Lackawanna River valley.
