Branch Brook Park
"A Place to Gather in the Beauty of Nature"
The nation's first county park to be opened to public use, Branch Brook Park offers nearly 360 acres of verdant beauty in Essex County, New Jersey. The park was designed by the firm of Frederick Law Olmsted and has in recent years been the focus of ambitious restoration efforts. Rhodeside & Harwell developed a Cultural Landscape Report that examined more than 700 historic documents and included an extensive vegetation database and infrastructure inventory. The firm has also directed numerous ecological restoration projects, rehabilitation of the park's acclaimed cherry tree collection; restoration of lake edges in the southern division; and reconstruction of numerous structures including the historic octagon shelter, pavilions, and ball fields.
