MONROE PARK

"A Landmark Urban Park"

Among Richmond, Virginia’s most historic public open spaces, the ten-acre Monroe Park is located at the east end of the dynamic Fan District. Rhodeside & Harwell developed a master plan for the neglected property, incorporating extensive public input from neighbors, Virginia Commonwealth University students, business owners, and government representatives. The plan focused on restoring Monroe Park as a vibrant historic open space with pathways, lighting, plantings, and amenities; preserving and augmenting the park’s urban forest and historic character; and increasing public use and support.
