Rhodeside & Harwell's professional team includes many accomplished planners, landscape architects, and specialists in the environment, historic preservation, transit and transportation, urban redevelopment, sustainable design, and community engagement. Our staff includes experienced project managers and dedicated quality assurance experts.
Rhodeside & Harwell was established as a partnership of Deana Rhodeside, PhD, Faye Harwell, FASLA, and Elliot Rhodeside, FASLA. Nationally recognized as leaders in the profession, the three partners bring complementary skills and diverse experience to the firm's multidisciplinary practice.
Dr. Deana Rhodeside is a specialist in urban and environmental planning, public outreach, and research. She holds a doctorate of philosophy in urban studies and planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Faye Harwell, FASLA, trained in landscape architecture at the University of Pennsylvania. She is noted for her work in urban, suburban, and rural settings, including historic parks and grounds.
Elliot Rhodeside, FASLA, also studied landscape architecture at the University of Pennsylvania. His expertise includes landscape planning and design, environmental planning, urban design, and historic preservation.

Kevin Fisher, ASLA, a landscape architect and design leader with nearly 25 years of diverse experience. Mr. Fisher holds degrees from Cal State Polytechnic University and Harvard University and has overseen the planning and design of many acclaimed design projects for the firm.
Mark Mastalerz, LEED AP, a landscape architect and managing principal with more than 30 years of experience. Mr. Mastalerz holds a degree in landscape architecture from Penn State and plays a key role in design, management, and quality assurance on many projects.
Our principals are closely involved with each of the firm's projects. Our offices in Alexandria, Virginia, and Newark, New Jersey, provide collaborative and creative settings in which Rhodeside & Harwell professionals can interact, share ideas, review work, and mentor each other—carefully responding to our clients' objectives while advancing our profession and the stewardship of our environment.
